How do you apply for the benefit?
You apply for the unemployment benefit with the RCN unit Social Affairs and Employment Unit of RCN (SZW ). Your application must be submitted within eight weeks after the end of your employment. You are entitled to a benefit if you lose your entire job through no fault of your own and you comply with the eligibility conditions of the regulation. Are you going to work fewer hours but do you remain employed? Then you are not entitled to this benefit. If you have two jobs, you can submit an application if you, through no fault of your own, lose one of the jobs in its entirety.
You must send documentary evidence with your application.
This includes:
- your employment agreement or temporary employment agreement;
- documents regarding the end of your employment, e.g. a dismissal letter or settlement agreement;
- payslips of at least six and at most ten months;
- documentary evidence of another job if you also work somewhere else in addition to your lost job;
- where applicable; residence permit;
- bank account number and evidence that it is registered in your name.
On the basis of your application and documentary evidence it is checked:
- whether you are (were) an employee in the Caribbean Netherlands according to the regulation;
- whether you are not unemployed through a fault of your own;
- whether you meet the weeks requirement;
- when your benefit starts;
- how high your benefit will be;
- whether there are reasons why you are not entitled to the benefit.
